INOX Solar, a subsidiary of the renowned INOXGFL Group, is set to establish a state-of-the-art solar module manufacturing unit in Dhenkanal district. The Odisha government has allocated approximately 78 acres of land for this ambitious project, which carries an investment of Rs 4,000 crore. With a production capacity of 4.8 gigawatts (GW) each for solar cells and modules, this facility promises to redefine the state’s role in India’s renewable energy landscape.
The project is approved by the state’s High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA). Expected to create over 3,400 jobs, the plant will not only enhance employment opportunities but also contribute to the development of downstream industries and infrastructure in Dhenkanal.
How is INOXGFL Group Pioneering Clean Energy Solutions?

The INOXGFL Group, the parent entity of INOX Solar, is a well-established name in India’s industrial and renewable energy sectors. Known for its expertise in chemicals, gases, and clean energy solutions, the group operates through subsidiaries like Inox Clean Energy, under which INOX Solar functions. INOXGFL has positioned itself as a key player in supporting India’s transition to a greener future with a strong commitment to innovation and sustainability, Devansh Jain, Executive Director of INOXGFL Group, emphasised the project’s significance, stating, “This strategic land allocation allows us to expand our solar energy footprint, reinforcing our commitment to India’s clean energy goals.”
Aligning with National and State Energy Targets
The INOX Solar’s Dhenkanal facility aligns seamlessly with India’s national target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. The Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi highlighted the dual benefits of the project, saying, “By facilitating the establishment of this plant, we are promoting sustainable industrial growth while creating new job opportunities and boosting economic development across the state.” This synergy between state policy and national objectives underscores Odisha’s growing stature as a hub for clean-tech investments.
Economic Transformation in Dhenkanal
The choice of Dhenkanal as the project’s location is poised to bring transformative changes to the region. Beyond the creation of over 3,400 direct jobs, the plant is expected to spur ancillary industries & improve local infrastructure. Analysts suggest that the success of this venture will hinge on timely execution and its integration with national and regional power grids. If realised as planned, the facility could serve as a model for other states aiming to balance industrialisation with environmental goals.
Odisha’s Green Industrial Future with INOX Solar in Dhenkanal
The INOX Solar project is part of a broader shift in Odisha’s economic strategy, which seeks to position the state as a leader in renewable energy manufacturing. This investment follows a series of recent initiatives aimed at attracting clean-tech industries, signaling a promising future for sustainable development. By leveraging its resources and policy support, Odisha is not only contributing to India’s energy security but also setting an example of how industrial growth can coexist with ecological responsibility.
