The groundbreaking ceremony was attended by senior government officials such as special secretary Subhendra Kumar Nayak and officials from Idco and IPICOL. MAS Holdings, a Sri Lanka-based global apparel conglomerate, is renowned for manufacturing clothing for iconic brands such as Nike, Calvin Klein, Gap, Athleta, and Marks & Spencer. Aligning with the state’s vision to become a hub for textile and apparel manufacturing this venture marks the company’s first foray into Odisha.
The project, approved by Odisha’s High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, carries an investment of ₹1,211.87 crore (approximately USD 140 million). Spanning over 60 acres, the facility is expected to commence production by 2026, establishing a strong apparel ecosystem in the region. This development builds on Odisha’s industrial growth, which saw a 10.1% increase in its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) in 2022-23, as per the Economic Survey of Odisha.
